Our Story

Hey, I’m Sid — Born in Delhi, raised in Bangalore, with roots stretching from Hyderabad to Chennai. I left home in 2013 for Singapore, and the last decade has been a bit of a world tour: HK, NYC, and now Dubai… I wonder where next?

One constant I noticed in each place was a happy, tight-knit Indian community. From classrooms to boardrooms, showrooms to behind brooms, we were everywhere – all with the same ambition and longing for home.

I noticed that we only seemed to “show up” as Indians on two occasions: Festivals and Cricket Matches. That’s when the dhols came out, the banter got “colorful,” and everyone became a Bollywood dancer with a drink in one hand and a finger pointed up in the other.

I also noticed we’d happily wear a vintage England or Brazil football jersey or an NYC-branded cap just because it “looked good.” I wondered why we would sport other countries’ colors when our own identity would be the ultimate flex?

That’s why I started Plus Nine One….

For Indians abroad — to wear our pride, our identity, and our roots every day, irrespective of the occasion or the lack thereof. To share stories of fellow Indians around the globe and give the world little bits trivia around our desh.

Unique, comfortable apparel, made with premium fabrics and minimal designs that each tell a story from home – in a style that isn’t from a Manyavaar catalog or a Manish Malhotra ramp (love you guys, but we can’t wear a sherwani to the grocery store).

A tiny reminder that no matter what the GPS coordinates, we’re always dialed in to home, every single day.
